On November 12, 2021, Bannon was indicted on two counts of contempt of Congress by a federal grand jury for his refusal to comply with a subpoena from the Business firm Select Committee investigating the January six, breach of the U.S. Capitol. Specifically, he was indicted for refusing to appear for a deposition and refusing to provide documents to the commission. The commission issued a subpoena to Bannon on Sept. 23.[61] Afterwards his refusal to comply, the committee unanimously voted to hold Bannon in contempt on October 19.[62] The U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve the charge 229-202 on October 21.[63] On December seven, Judge Carl Nichols said the trial would begin on July 18, 2022.[64]
